Fresh thoughts on forward-looking working capital not evident in current day Financial Textbooks and Academia. I developed what, I call, “3-Dimensional Triangular Working Capital Theory”, (in short, “3D-Triangular WC Theory”), which theory stems from my work as a Financial Controller combined with my extensive financial modeling, financial management, and the constant need for real-time or ‘near real-time” working capital visibility. The theory developed stems from understanding the business cycle and how the various working capital components interact with each other. Traditional Financial Reporting studies the components of working capital in isolation and in a historic ratio setting. The question we are left with, as Finance Specialists and Financial Scientists, “What is the golden thread that binds it all together”, what is that single-one-thing that explains the behavior behind financial numbers
